Missouri

Summary

A modified NAIC Service Contract Model bill was passed by non NHSCA forces in 2006. Given the non model characteristics and unique language, the NHSCA could not support its adoption. Sponsors wished to move forward and simply grant an exemption for home service contracts. The bill was re-introduced in 2007 as HB 221. With NHSCA support and the retention of the exemption.

The net effect of the law is to remove all insurance treatment and special regulation by this bill for typical home service providers.

NHSCA Members are advised to contact the NHSCA Office for current copies of the law and history of interpretation. (Full copies were distributed at the 2011 annual meeting in Las Vegas with the meeting binder.)
