Summary
In 1999, a member who later help form the NHSCA, worked with former insurance Commissioner Mike Brassey to pass exemption legislation over the objections of the current insurance commissioner and her attorney general staffers. The effort was considered important from not only a legal and precedent setting standpoint, but also in terms of credibility of the home service contract industry. SB 1389 was passed with the full support of the Idaho legislature and is now codified at title 41-114A.
