Lenexa, KS, Dec. 7, 2020 – At its regular meeting this past month, Christopher Wasson, Vice President and General Counsel with Old Republic Home Protection of San Ramon, California was unanimously elected President of the NHSCA. Rodney Martin, Chief Executive Officer of America’s Preferred Home Warranty of Jackson, Michigan was elected Vice President and Jacqui Crocket Vice President of Business, Digital Transformation 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty of Denver, Colorado was elected Secretary/Treasurer of Association.
A new slate of officers was adopted due to the recent departure of NHSCA President John Walsh from Cinch Home Services of Boca Raton, Florida. The new officers will serve until the Annual NHSCA National meeting in mid-2022. Art Chartrand, NHSCA Executive and General Counsel reported “Walsh’s departure leaves some big shoes to fill but Christopher Wasson has already made a tremendous impact on the association and is more than capable. Wasson is an accomplished, industry thought leader and a prominent legal mind in real estate. By providing two-year terms, we’re able to groom new officers like Chris for a successful and smooth transition.”
Wasson, a graduate of the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville served as in-house counsel with Fidelity National Title Group and then Fidelity National Home Warranty before joining Old Republic Home Protection where he currently serves as General Counsel. As President, Wasson will continue to work
towards the goals of the Association to advocate for the industry and its customers. “I’m honored that the Association has asked me to take on this leadership role at such an innovative time in our industry. As the real estate market continues to grow, I believe digital tools and machine learning will play a crucial role in creating a stronger value proposition for property owners, agents, and other stakeholders in the home warranty space. I look forward to working with our leadership team to create a roadmap for growth and success.”
Rodney Martin has played key roles within the NHSCA toward adoption of its accreditation program and the development of the NHSCA Advisory Council. “We are reaching out to stakeholders all over the home service contract industry. They want to be on our team and we welcome them. We are working right now to restructure the NHSCA governance and membership to better accommodate the resources we can all provide consumers together. We are rapidly adapting while addressing the new realities of a yet emerging post pandemic workplace and direct to home services industry” said
Jacqui Crockett has been working in the industry for over 25 years and brings both a deep industry knowledge, as well as new ideas and perspectives to the NHSCA Executive Team. “Consumers of any service product have expectations that are higher than ever before, and the task ahead of us is to meet, and exceed, them every time.
Through great partnerships and collaboration, with as many companies as possible, I believe the NHSCA can help the industry set a new standard for great customer centric experiences as we grow.” One of the new executive team’s first priorities is to transition to a new Executive Director and General Counsel. Art Chartrand has served that role and helped build the NHSCA since its inception. “I will be around and serve ‘Of Counsel’ at the beck and call of the new Exec for several years. I plan to remain very engaged with him or her and be available for special projects. It was just time in my career to help mentor in a new person” indicated Chartrand. Joy Moore will remain as Operations Manager of the NHSCA working to assist the new Exec and maintain all operations as seamless. “Day to day management of the NHSCA will not skip a beat, “ said Chartrand. “I just wanted more time to focus on The Chartrand Charitable Foundation and pursue my interests in teaching as well as spend more time with family, friends…..and few horses,” he added, only half-jokingly.
